Quality Assurance

Intermech’s robust quality assurance (QA) program is centered around the ASME NQA-1 program that was established in the early 1980s to serve the construction of commercial nuclear power plants.

Personnel Qualifications

Our quality assurance team is qualified to perform the following tests:

  • Non-destructive examinations per ASNT SNT-TC-1A
  • Visual testing
  • Leak testing
  • Penetrant testing

We also provide training to qualify our inspectors to American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards and American Welding Society (AWS) welding codes.

Codes and Standards

The QA program is regularly audited by both commercial nuclear customers and operators of government nuclear and chemical weapons decommissioning sites, some of which belong to the Nuclear Procurement Issues Committee (NUPIC).

Our program encompasses the following codes/standards/guides:

  • ASME NQA-1-2008/09a
  • NQA-1-2008/09a and all preceding editions
  • ANSI N45.2 and multiple daughter documents
  • ASMA B31.1 Piping
  • ASME B 31.3 Piping
  • ASME Code Stamps “U” & “PP”
  • 10 CFR 50 Appendix B
  • 10 CFR 830
  • 10 CFR Part 21
  • DOE O 414.1D and all preceding editions
  • DOE G 414.1-3
  • National Board Inspection Stamp “R”
  • NRC Regulatory Guide 1.28 Rev 4

Quality Assurance Services

Our QA program is structured at a corporate level with provisions for specific procedures for each project site. We use the Graded Approach process, which provides us with the flexibility to tailor the program to fit the individual needs of our customers on a project specific basis.

Services provided under Intermech’s QA program include, but are not limited to:

  • Procurement, fabrication, and installation of:
    • Complete mechanical systems
    • HVAC ductwork
    • ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3 piping systems
    • Equipment
    • Controls
    • Selective civil construction disciplines
  • Design and engineering activities in support of any of the above

Our expert QA team helps ensure that each project we perform meets both regulatory and customer defined quality requirements.
